FYI...

U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings today named Tryon Elementary School as one of the recipients of the 2007 Blue Ribbon School award.  As stated in the Education Department's news release, "The No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools award, one of the most prestigious education awards in the country, distinguishes and honors schools for helping students achieve at very high levels."  Spelling stated, "It takes a lot of hard work by teachers and students to become a Blue Ribbon school, and it's a privilege
to celebrate their great efforts."

The Blue Ribbon Schools Program cites public and private elementary, middle and high schools for academic superiority.  Tryon Elementary School was chosen
based on its students' outstanding performance on nationally-normed tests. There is a rigorous application process in which the school must document
academic excellence by submitting curriculum information, teaching methodology, mission and philosophy, professional development programs,
demographics, and test scores.
